Sally and Dalia Ghazi Ibaid were 26-year-old Palestinian twin sisters. They graduated in Mechanical Engineering and planned to pursue a Master's degree in Canada.
They lived in Gaza City and had studied at Al Azhar University, in the Faculty of Engineering and Polytechnic. Both had graduated with excellent grades and were fluent in English.
They had developed several projects using different microprocessors, some for data collection and monitoring, and others for creating a loading robot.
They trained with equipment from the Noora Rashid Al Kahbi Dialysis Center.
They applied for and were awarded a scholarship to pursue their doctorate at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. The scholarship is part of a global initiative to assist students in conflict zones.
On December 5, 2024, when they were in Rafah, the border crossing into Egypt, preparing their trip to Canada, they were killed, along with their mother, by an Israeli bombing.
