The more I look at my ants, the more similar to me I find them.
My brother has asked me to explain why ants seem so similar to me. Having a head, eyes, mouth, ass and limbs could be a similarity, so is the bilateral symmetry whereby we have a right side and a left side that are an inverted copy. But that does not attract my attention, I am used to seeing it in the animals that I am able to see.
But what has surprised me the most is the behavior of the ants, that behavior that I have been telling you about in previous publications (The beetle, Works in the cemetery, The seeds): their elaboration of projects, their project changes, their games, their pious activities with their dead; but above all his art.
I believe if I could talk to my ants they would tell me many things that I already know, but surely they would tell me in another way.
What do you say? that surely we are family? Could we have a common ancestor? Let's look.
Our common ancestor
Fortunately there are many people studying the family tree of ants, and also studying our family tree, so it didn't take me long to find it: and 😃 YES!, we have a common ancestor, it was very small, possibly the width of a hair, and it lived 540 million years ago. The branch of the ant family is much more abundant than ours. The first ants are from the time of the dinosaurs 125 million years ago, while we have only been on earth for less than half a million years.
I have studied our common family tree a little more, and I can tell you that the common progenitor of all living beings existed more than 4 billion years ago, and from it we descended from cells with a nucleus (the EUKARIA empire), which decided to unite among themselves and organize through a plan that would allow them to move around the earth (the kingdom ANIMALIA). Within the kingdom Animalia we belong to a group that organized its cells in a bilateral symmetrical way (BILATERIA), these animals had an anterior part, where the sense organs were, and a posterior part. Part of the cells of these animals formed a digestive tube through the interior of the body, with an entrance hole at the front (MOUTH) and an exit hole at the back (ANUS). The bilateria were divided into two groups: the PROTOSTOMIA, which began to build their digestive tube through the mouth (the family of ants), and the DEUTEROSTOMIA that began to build their digestive tube through the anus (our family).
Therefore, these similarities should not surprise me, since both, the ants and me, carry the same book written inside, the nucleus of each of our cells. That book that we received from our first common ancestor and that our cells are responsible for interpreting.
