Hassan Abdelfattah Aslih was born in Khan Younis. He was 37 years old and worked as a photojournalist. He began his career as an assistant at Al Quds, a position he held for five years, documenting life in Gaza. He later founded his own news agency: Alam 24 News.

He traveled by motorcycle with his brother throughout the Gaza Strip to cover the news firsthand, and became a reliable source of information for followers and subscribers, amassing over a million followers on his Telegram (@hpress), Instagram (@hasssan_eslaih) (@hassanasalih), Facebook and Tik Tok accounts.

He was one of the journalists targeted by Israel, although Hassan denied belonging to any armed group or being involved in politics; he lived apart from his family because of his work and to protect them from being attacked. He was married to Alaa Musmah, and they had one son and three daughters; they lived in Khan Younis, though they were constantly on the move.

On April 7, 2025, the press room at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis was bombed by Israel, killing journalist Helmi Al Faqawi and wounding nine other journalists, including Hassan Aslih and Ahmed Mansour; Ahmed suffered severe burns, from which he succumbed days later.

As a result of the bombing, Hassan suffered a skull fracture, shrapnel wounds, and burns, and lost two fingers on his hand. He spent 35 days recovering at Nasser Hospital; he wanted to continue his work as a journalist.

On May 13, 2025, Hassan was killed by another deliberate Israeli bombing of his hospital room. He was so well-known and popular that his murder caused great grief among his colleagues and drew condemnation worldwide. Hassan: “If my crime is documenting the suffering of the oppressed in Gaza, let them kill me while I am on duty”
